Al-Sadr: We Need To Combat IS Without Western Support

BAGHDAD An Iraqi cleric
has condemned the brutal murder of Jordanian pilot by Islamic State
(IS) and believes the cooperating with western powers is unnecessary
in the fight against the extremists.Radical Shia cleric Moqtada al-Sadr
condemned the brutal murder of Jordanian pilot Moaz al-Kasasbeh, burnt
alive by IS, and said the militants should be tackled without the
intervention of western countries“We don’t require the help of western powers anymore,” said al-Sadr on Wednesday.
“We should no longer help westerners target IS positions, instead we should fight the militants ourselves.”
“Muslim and Arab countries should cooperate and destroy IS,” he added.
Since the liberation of Iraq in 2003 by the US, Shia officials have stood against western powers’ intervention in Iraq.
