NICOSIA — Iran has reported missile exports to neighboring Iraq, a leading defense client of the United States.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has cited Iranian missile deliveries to neighboring Iraq, Middle East Newsline reported. IRGC Air Force commander Brig. Gen. Amir Ali Hajizadeh said his force was exporting missiles for Baghdad’s war against Islamic State of Iraq and Levant.

Iran has been deemed the largest missile producer in the Middle East. Teheran has insisted that it would not reduce its missile development and production program as part of any nuclear agreement with the West.

“Iran’s missile program is not subject to negotiations,” Iran’s senior nuclear negotiator, Abbas Araqchi, said.

In remarks on Feb. 2, Hajizadeh did not identify the Iranian missiles supplied to Iraq. He said IRGC was producing a range of short- and medium-range missiles.

“By exporting the technology of manufacturing missiles and other equipment, Iran helped countries such as Syria, Iraq, and Palestine as well as Lebanon’s Hizbullah to stand up to and ground the Zionist regime, ISIL and other Takfiri groups,” Hajizadeh said.

“We have reached the point that we now export [missile] expertise to neighboring countries,” he said.
