Pakistan seeks nuclear arsenal only as a countermeasure to any Indian cross-border attack and will continue to do so
HYDERABAD: In a recent speech at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Washington, DC, Joe Biden warned about the use of nuclear weapons in regional conflict in South Asia, Europe and East Asia. He further left a recommendation for the succeeding government to take effective countermeasures on a priority basis in order to stifle the proliferation of nuclear weapons. However, the international community thinks the world is becoming more dangerous when more nations have wielded nuclear weapons.
Joe Biden, without mentioning Pakistan’s name, warned that there are states that still seek to augment their nuclear arsenals. In this scenario, the stance of our state is quite unequivocal; Pakistan has always raised the issue of nuclear proliferation at every forum to draw attention of the international community to take valuable measures to mitigate growing concerns over nuclear weapons. Pakistan has always invited America and the international community to intervene on the Kashmir issue and share their role to ease the tensions with India. On the other hand, India has always roared about the intervention on the terrorism issue while opposing international intervention over the Kashmir issue.
The whole world and America knows Pakistan seeks nuclear arsenal only as a countermeasure to any Indian cross-border attack and will continue to do so until it meets its defence stability. It is time for the international community to interfere impartially over the long-lingering issues between the nuclear power states in order to lessen the growing concerns over the use of nuclear weapons in case of any regional conflict.
