A small earthquake shook an area in North Jersey early Monday, officials said.
The U.S. Geological Survey confirmed that a 1.4 magnitude earthquake was recorded near Kinnelon at 12:06 a.m.
The USGS considers the overnight quake minor, although residents from surrounding towns, including Butler and Bloomingdale, said on social media they felt the tremor.
Local police said some residents called in to report the shaking.
