TEHRAN, September 07 /ITAR-TASS/. Iran is not going to reduce the number of its uranium enrichment centrifuges, Fars news agency reported on Sunday, referring to a source, close to the delegation of the Iranian negotiators with the sic world powers (five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany).

He said, in particular, that Tehran will not agree to reduce the number or its enrichment centrifuges. No agreement that would determine the number of such units was reached at the negotiations, he added.

The issue of the possible reduction by Tehran of the number of the enrichment centrifuges was raised by journalists of the Middle East website Al-Monitor.

Without referring to any sources, the Iranian Press TV TC channel reported, they said that Iran allegedly was ready to reduce the number of its centrifuges from 10,000 to 7,000 units, in order to advance the Iranian nuclear programme talks.

The six world powers will hold a meeting with Iran at the level of political directors in New York on September 18. Ahead of the meeting, the Iranian negotiators’ team will meet delegations of the UK, Germany and France in Vienna on September 11.

Bilateral consultations between the United States and Iran were launched in Geneva on September 4. The day before, Israeli Minister of International and Strategic Affairs Yuval Steinitz said the Israeli delegation would travel to Washington to discuss the Iranian nuclear programme issues.

According to him, while in Washington, the Israeli delegation intends to discuss the essence of the nuclear programme [of Tehran] – uranium enrichment by centrifuges. The Iranians have not been flexible on this issue, Steinitz added.
